April is Autism Awareness month. Did you know Autism prevalence is now one in every 68 children in America? Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex developmental disability; signs typically appear during early childhood and affect a person’s ability to communicate and interact with others. ASD is defined by a certain set of behaviors and is a “spectrum condition” that affects individuals differently and to varying degrees. There is no known single cause of autism, but increased awareness and early diagnosis/intervention and access to appropriate services/supports lead to significantly improved outcomes. Kids with Autism are just like every other kid, in that they love to play, learn, and be treated with respect. Please join SL/AC as we raise awareness April 2nd during “Light it up blue” for Autism Day (wear as much blue as possible this day). For more information visit https://ausitsmspeaks.org.
SL/AC a school-wide Title I program. All students receive access to materials and support through Title I |
